Which Award covers your team?

Every rate you pay starts with two answers: the Award that covers your business, and where each person sits within it. The Award Finder works both out with you in a short conversation, and shows you the clauses it used.

  • Free, with no sign-up Open it and start typing. Nothing to install and no account to create.
  • 122 modern Awards It works from the published text of each Award, not from a summary.
  • Shows its working Every answer quotes the clause it rests on, so you can check it yourself.
Where pay goes wrong

Underpayment usually starts before the first pay run.

There are more than a hundred modern Awards, and the rules for choosing one aren’t the ones most people guess. If you’re the Owner or a director, the underpayment is yours to fix.

  • The Award follows the business

Coverage starts with what your business does, not with each job title. Most of your team sits under that one Award. Someone moves to another Award only when yours has no classification for their work.

  • Duties decide the level, not titles

A “Manager” who only takes bookings is classified on the bookings. The work someone actually does, and how much of their week it takes, decides where they sit.

  • One wrong answer repeats every pay run

Base rate, penalties, overtime and allowances all follow from the Award and the level. Get either wrong and every pay run after it is wrong too, until someone complains or a notice to produce arrives.

How it works

An interview, not a form.

  1. 1

    Tell it about your business

It asks what the business does and what your people do, one question at a time, and stops when it has enough.

  2. 2

It names your Award, or Awards

It reads the coverage clauses and tells you which Award covers you, quoting the words that decide it. Some businesses fall under more than one.

  3. 3

    It places each role

Describe a role and it asks about the real day-to-day work, then places it at a level within the Award, or tells you the role is Award-free.

  4. 4

Ask it anything about the Award

Penalty rates, allowances, hours, leave: it searches the Award, answers from the text and cites the clause.

FAQ

Questions about the Award Finder

More on connecting your systems, setup and your data in the FAQ, or ask us.

Is the Award Finder free?

Yes. It’s free to use, with nothing to install and no account to create.

What will it tell me?

Which modern Award covers your business, or Awards if more than one applies, and the classification level for each role you describe. If a role isn’t covered by any Award, it tells you that too.

Which Awards does it know?

122 modern Awards. It reads the published text of each one rather than a summary, and quotes the clause behind every answer so you can check it yourself.

Can I ask it about penalty rates, allowances and leave?

Yes. Once you know your Award, ask it anything about it: penalty rates, allowances, hours or leave. It searches the Award, answers from the text and cites the clause.

Can I come back to a conversation later?

Yes, in the same browser. Your conversations are saved there, not in an account.

How is the Award Finder different from Worksauce?

The Award Finder tells you which Award and level applies. Worksauce Award compliance then checks every pay run against them, using the hours and pay from the systems you already run.

We'll walk you through it with your own Award and your own systems in mind.
